I recently made a sketch of a character living in an oaken forest, so I thought that I would turn the character's weapon into a real 3D-model. After some basic low-poly modelling I tried some sculpting for the soon-to-be normal map. I got quite satisfied with the wooden feel of the guard (top part of handle), but the bottom part still needs a lot of work. I learned that it's hard to find a balance in detail when you start to sculpt to get the overall look to be the same.
